The cottage has been renovated and a lapa added. Some of the original doors and windows were kept. The store outside was once a “long Drop” and wash room as there was no piped water or electricity on the site. Most of the fittings in the cottage have been made from artefacts found nearby. The curtain rod holders are made from sleeper bolts from the mine and the toilet roll holder is made from the protection plate from the draw bar or “Disselboom” of an old cart or ox wagon. The shower is made from an old watering can (Still calibrated in gallons), the ceramic basin was made and fired on the property. |
